The day after surgery is always a bit complicated, and today was no exception. While I was there, he was awake and comfortable, though still a little squirmy. At other times, he was a little more fussy. They're trying to keep him pain-free, which sometimes requires some additional medication. His belly is still swollen from the surgery and he's still in the warmer-bed they used to bring him back from the Operating Room. He looks like a giant, and can touch both sides of the bed at the same time.....he's probably looking forward to getting back into his big-boy crib.
It's still a little early to talk about the next steps; we'll be focused on recovery for at least a few days. For now he's doing as well as can be expected after such a difficult surgery....more news as he becomes more awake and active.
